Some 70
Ukrainian nationals, friends and supporters gathered on Amsterdam’s Dam square
on Saturday to show support for the ongoing anti-government protests in Kiev.
Thousands
of people have joined the protests in the Ukrainian capital after president
Viktor Yanukovich suspended talks with the European Union last month.
‘We have to
keep calm, carry on and be European,’ Amsterdam protestors Alina and Irina told
DutchNews.nl.
The mother
and daughter have lived in the Netherlands for 13 years and say Saturday’s
demonstration was to show solidarity with friends and family back home. Some of
the demonstrators had come from as far away as Enschede.
